Closeness to nature. Ikea Spring 2021

This Spring, Ikea is launching a new range of products meant to celebrate the season’s flourishing nature and its fresher colour palette. From laptop stands to cabinets and vases, elegant simplicity is the golden thread throughout. Clean lines and uncomplicated forms allow functions or materials, and often both, to be in focus. Natural fibres like hemp, birch, bamboo and rattan are employed in various products. The best bit of Spring is the anticipation of new things to come, and the essence of this range is no different says Ikea.

“The days are still chilly in many parts of the world, but the energy and excitement of springtime are already in full bloom. The latest arrivals at IKEA are a tribute to this season: both its lighter, fresher colour palette and the closeness to nature that we miss in the winter months.“

LINNEBÄCK easy chair

Clean lines, slender silhouette and great proportions make the LINNEBÄCK easy chair my favourite item from this range. It comes in three colour assortments: light grey, dark grey and olive green.

Its design results from an exciting design collaboration between IKEA and its customers in Sweden, Denmark and China. By listening to their needs and acting on their feedback, Ikea says, it created not only a comfortable, stylish, and budget-conscious chair but also a design piece with time-enduring looks and long-lasting materials.

RUDSTA glass-door cabinet

Sleek, lightweight proportions in a fresh turquoise colour make the RUDSTA cabinet an eye-catching home for those personal items that deserve to be admired daily. Its smart details such as the magnetic back panel, cable-managing and padlock-compatible door handle complement the design nicely.

SINARP/HASSLARP kitchen fronts

This Spring, Ikea expands its kitchen fronts and doors collection with SINARP & HASSLARP. This new family of kitchen fronts displays a contemporary design in a rich brown oak veneer for a dramatic and refined finish. The natural variations of colour and grain in the wood are always embraced and mean no two kitchens will be alike.

JÄSNING Proofing basket

The rise of the home baker. We all know last year was challenging, and for loosening up, many of us enjoyed pursuing new interests such as baking. Following this idea, Ikea created JÄSNING, a proofing basket in natural rattan. It is a great-to-have item for the aspiring home baker, offering support and structure that takes sourdough loaves one step closer to pro.

My selection from Ikea 2021 Spring novelties

Along with the products touched upon, Ikea is launching many other different ones, and their availability depends on the country you are from. I have selected a few from the upcoming ones, and some that are already available in Romania and I have made a visual collage that I hope you’ll enjoy.

My design aesthetic is minimalism hence I have chosen a simple colour palette of neutral beige & black and one single colour: green. I pay attention to the materials that my furniture is made of and I like that Ikea offers products in raw & natural materials such as wool, bamboo, ceramics, glass, cotton etc.

I have paired the new LINNEBACK easy chair in olive green with the GLADOM coffee table and the new RUDSTA glass-door cabinet. Their cool lines are softened up by the new HJORTSVANG handwoven unbleached wool carpet and RÅVAROR wool blanket. SNÖBYAR ceramic table lamp and LUSTIGKURRE bamboo basket complete the atmosphere with their decorative details.
